AEROYACHT CHALLENGER to attempt NY-Bermuda World
Record |
 |
Aeroyacht Ltd. will raise a challenge this June to break
the coveted offshore powerboat world record for the
700nm distance from New York to Bermuda. After long
preparations it is has now been officially announced
that Gregor Tarjan, Aeroyacht Ltd's president and his
anonymous partner, have started construction on
"AEROYACHT CHALLENGER " an advanced composite - Blubay
45' power catamaran, which with the help of her
specially designed foils, will able to travel at over 40
knots through rough water. Top speed with twin 440HP
engines is in excess of 55 knots and range is over 1500
nautical miles. The attempt has been already registered
with the Guinness Book of Records in the UK. The fastest
time to date is held by another power cat, who managed
to complete the rough passage through the notorious Gulf
Stream in less than 23 hours. Commanders Weather of NH,
the current weather routers of Ellen Mac Arthur's
present around the world solo record attempt, have
already agreed to assist routing "Aeroyacht Challenger"
through the Gulfstream.
The Blubay 45' is a wolf in sheep's clothing. She was
originally conceived as the ultimate tender to the
legendary Blubay maxi catamarans. She sleeps 4 in
comfort and is available in various custom layouts for
tournament fishing, weekend cruising and there is even
an open version.
Competitively priced, the Blubay 45' is finished in
super yacht quality, complete with teak decks, flat
screen TV's, and leather ceilings. This unique vessel
will be exclusively marketed in the US by Aeroyacht Ltd.
and can be tested at the company's facilities in Long
Island, NY and in September at the Newport Boat Show.

Miami Boat Show to feature 3 Fountaine Pajot's |
 |
The Miami Sail and Power Boat Show (Feb 17-21) has
become one of the worlds most important gathering places
for new sail and power multihulls. At this years show
more than 45 catamarans and trimarans are expected to be
displayed. Aeroyacht Ltd. and other dealers of the
Fountain Pajot Team are planning to display their
magnificent Eleuthera 60 flagship catamaran, a Lavezzi
40, and the new Cumberland 44 Trawler Yacht. All 3
vessels are composite/infusion built and the newest
generation created by Fountaine Pajot, the world's most
experienced builder of cruising catamarans, who now has
an unprecedented 1600 boats sailing the world.
The Miami Boat Show will feature other attractions
such as educational venues such as the Discover Boating
Center, which is a feature at the show located in C
Lobby. The Center is designed as a resource to help
people who are new to boating to get into the boat that
is right for them. The host who is manning the booth
will walk the consumer through a series of questions
before offering unbiased, brand-neutral advice about
which categories of boats will best fit their needs.
"It's pretty fundamental," says Steve Tadd, Discover
Boating's Program Manager "We do not recommend brands.
We personalize advice to build confidence and to coach
the potential buyer into buying the boat that will
create a satisfying boating experience. Boats are a big
investment and we need to get it right for the
individual consumer the first time so that he/she can
enjoy boating for the rest of their lives."

Outremer Catamarans finish 1.-2. in ARC Transatlantic
Race |
 |
WILLOW's crew, Robin, Peter, Theresa, Stephane and
Gregor celebrate their second place finish in the ARC
transatlantic race.
Outremer 55S WILLOW crossed the finish line in second
position behind GIROLATA - the winner another fast
Outremer.
In this years edition of the ARC 192 boats
participated among them many cruising multihulls, such
as Fountaine Pajot's, Lagoons, Privileges, Catanas and
Outremer catamarans.
"There were good winds in the first 48 hours. In
fact, that smallest boat [Glad, a Comfort 30] broke her
boom on the second day. But then there were only patches
of wind and a big hole in the middle, five days with
very little wind," comments Jeremy Wyatt of organizers
World Cruising Club. "On the flip side, there were not
many breakages."
WILLOW is presently in St. Lucia and will be sailed
to Aeroyacht's NY location in Spring. She will be
available for demo sails.
