    Regatta in the Med

As every year, the friendly 2 day sail regatta will be held close to the factory near Montpellier France. More than 25 Outremer catamarans are expected, ranging from a 1987 Outremer 40 to ALIZE, Outremer’s flagship 64S, which is presently receiving new equipment. Even the famous winner of the 2000 STAR Single Handed Transatlantic Race will be present to defend her title against visitors and an international crew from around the world. Fun filled events, dinners and parties will complement the racing, so even non sailors will find something to do. The charming town of Montpellier is in close proximity and will form an ideal getaway for shopping, dining and sight seeing.

The shipyard, world renown for their efficient and well performing catamarans, will also present the new Outremer 42, which boasts the same volume as the 45, yet is more economical to acquire and run. Hull Nr. 5 has just been launched and can be seen at the factory.

Finite Element Analyses and computer modeling is used to analyze complex engineering structures. It is a simulation technique whereby a mathematical model of a multihull is subjected to known loads, and consequently adequate composites can be determined. Complex structures, such as catamarans are suitable subjects for this clever method. Finite Element Analyses which just recently made its way into the main stream of pleasure boating, basically determines, which areas of a multihull experience what loads. Designers ad safety factors to these results and can engineer laminates to deal with these forces resulting in the strongest strength to weight ratio.

  • New Lavezzi 40 starts adventure

Aeroyacht has just delivered a brand new Lavezzi 40 Maestro model to her proud new owners Monica Sell and Lee Cook of Canada. The boat undertook her maiden voyage from La Rochelle, France to Le Havre, where she was shipped as deck cargo on a specialty freighter. After 5 weeks of sailing, the new Fountaine Pajot catamaran was unloaded and is now being recommissioned.

The owners are very experienced sailors, who owned and lived aboard their Manta 40. They plan to continue their adventures by taking their Lavezzi 40- WANADOO-to the ruggedly beautiful Aleutian Island chain off the West Coast of Canada
