It was great honor to demonstrate a Cumberland 44 to US ambassador to France, Mr. Craig Stapleton last month in La Rochelle, France. The ambassador, who presently resides in Paris, visited the Fountaine Pajot shipyard to network with local officials in the Charente Maritime region and test the Cumberland powercat in the waters of the Bay of Biscay.

Winds were brisk and there was a slight chop, which the able powercat cut across with more than 26 knots. The entire 12 man entourage of the ambassador, which also included undercover bodyguards and assistants seemed to enjoy the 3 hour ride and celebrated the return to port with local champagne and refreshments in the saloon of the Cumberland 44.

The recently launched Blubay 100’ mega sailing catamaran has written a new page in the history of yachting as she sailed off the coast of Cannes towards Genoa. At little over 100' she is one of the largest and most luxurious super-cats in the world today. The realization of ALLURES was a long term project for her French owner who is thrilled with the exceptional finish and stunning performance of his new Blubay yacht. The engine trials were equally impressive as she could motor at over 17 knots and even at full throttle hardly made any noise. In fact the twin diesels were so silent that the noise of the airconditioning in the aft cabins was louder than the sound from the engines.

The Blubay 100’ ALLURES is scheduled to hold her US premiere by being presented at the Ft. Lauderdale Boat Show in October 26-30

Last week saw the US arrival of the Johnston family’s brand new Lavezzi 40. Aeroyacht’s capable French crew with a total of 9 transatlantic crossing to their credit, delivered the Fountaine Pajot catamaran without any problems and in showroom condition. When her new owners sailed the boat for the first time in 25 knots of wind the entire family was present to celebrate in style.

The Johnston’s Lavezzi 40 is an owners version and the first one in the New England waters. Aeroyacht will be showing the boat at the Newport Boat Show. (Sept 14-17)
