Whats new:
Atelier Outremer has just announced the launch of its first
ever electric catamaran. No its not the "Joker's" (as in
Batman) wild dream but its a WAM. But what is it ? Prepare

...sparks at Outremer
The first example of the electric Outremer 42 has just been
launched in the South of France. A simple solution has been
adopted by the builder: one motor per hull -and it seems to
work. The first tests have been very promising and the fuel
saving are impressive.
To be continued soon!

What the....
|
|
is this thing ?
This radical cat might not be a beauty but she utilizes
flexibility to adapt her structure and shape to the water
surface. Instead of forcing the water to conform to the
hull, she gives and adjusts and “dances” with the waves.
It seems like the craziest idea, but its proven to work: The
WAM -Wave Adaptive Modular Vessel- is a new class of
catamaran based on a patented technology that delivers a
radically new seagoing experience. Unlike conventional
boats, the hulls of a WAM- conform to the surface of the
water. A WAM-V does not push, slap or pierce the waves. She
isn't pretty - but spiders aren't either.

next Americas Cup
Good News for America's Cup lovers ! (and I know some...)
Two of the greatest alumni of the world's hottest sailing
race- Russell Coutts and Paul Cayard have recently announced
that they have secured funding to build a fleet of 70'
catamarans for close to shore events.
These radical catamarans will be designed by VPLP of France
and seem to feature an extended centre nacelle, which will
house the cockpit and winch batteries aft and also serve as
rigid platform to assure a bar tight forestay. They will fly
hulls like Dennis Conner's catamaran "Stars and Stripes" did
in the 80's and close-quarter match race at 30 knots. Now
thats a show !
