Franck Cammas claimed a new world speed record after logging 794
miles in 24 hours on his giant 105ft trimaran Groupama 3 during
an attempt at the transatlantic record - and then improved it
the following day with an amazing 795.2-mile run.
That's an incredible average speed of 33 knots. If this is
officially ratified, it's much more than a small improvement: it
will shatter Bruno Peyron's 2006 record of 766.8 miles on the
maxi catamaran Orange 2.
