It is with great pleasure that we present to you an adventure story
written by one of our customers. Usually these are the most truthful
accounts of boat purchases, as they are told from a completely
unbiased perspective and thus lack the "embellishments".
Bill Fitzgerald a native New Englander always loved boats and sailing
- until one day his girlfriend said: "what are you waiting for?"
Thanks to her he ordered a brand new
Mahe 36 catamaran She will be waiting to cross the Atlantic with
him this summer. We reprinted his story with kind permission from our
friends at
MULTIHULLS magazine.

Welcome Dick Newick into the Designer's Hall of Fame
Probably the most talented of all multihull naval architects is now
in the ABYC prestigious Designer's Hall of Fame. Its none other than
Dick Newick - the man with the artists eye for beautiful ocean
machines. Newick has revolutionized catamaran and trimaran design a
few times over and never limited his interest to conventional
multihulls - in fact he created the most radical proas ever to hit the
water. Dick endorsed our book
"Catamarans, Every Sailor's Guide" and is always on the hunt for
the next new thing and likely to surprise us with his findings.
Aeroyacht congratulates you Mr.Newick.

Why is my mast so bendy?
If you own a modern multihull and have sighted up the mast you might
have noticed the bend in your rig. Yes I agree, it looks real cool but
did you know that this beautiful curve provides column stiffness
without adding the weight of a heavier mast section or stays?
Usually the spreaders are raked aft to optimize the geometry of the
intermediate shrouds which act like a string on a bow. Mast stiffness
is especially important when reefing, whereby less flex in the rig
will avoid the dangerous pumping that you might have otherwise. Have
you ever noticed the pre-bend in the porpoise that can swim faster
with less energy by starting its cyclic body snap from a more
optimized position? Yes, pre-bend even works in nature.
