The new Outremer 7X catamaran has a length of 74′ and is the largest catamaran offered by the legendary French yard – builders of the Outremer 45, 4x, 51 and 5X catamarans. The Outremer 7X catamaran will be the new benchmark of high performance semi custom multihulls. The Outremer 7X will have a unique, distinctive, elegant and smooth design supported by a balanced interior and exterior design by world famed VPLP design company.
The Outremer 7X catamaran will provide not only 300 mile days but also the ability to enjoy the view onto the sea from everywhere. The advanced hull shapes have been optimized thanks to the most sophisticated velocity prediction modeling borrowed from the America’s Cup. The steering is nearly intuitive for such a large yacht and provides great helm feedback thanks to the tillers which are directly connected the rudders
The Outremer 7X catamaran will be as fast as the True Wind in light to medium wind conditions and often faster in stronger air. The ability of Outremer catamarans to sail in extreme (light or storm) conditions remains unrivaled. The bridgedeck nacelle is purposely left short and low to reduce air resistance, increase bridgedeck clearance and keep the weight centered and low.
The construction of the Outremer 7X catamaran is in high tech infusion: Every part of the Outremer catamaran is made under infusion process, leading to lighter and stronger parts.
Above waterline the construction is of core foam sandwich, to combine low weight and stiffness. Below waterline, hulls are of plain polyester for better resistance to impacts and the first layer behind the gelcoat is of Vinylester to prevent and minimize osmosis. All transversal bulkheads, as well as deck on hulls and transoms on deck, are fully laminated to provide a matchless rigidity to Outremer catamarans and the two main bulkheads (aft and mast) form a clever “single frame” for perfect rigidity.
This project is supported by the best French team of architects & designers : VPLP, Patrick le Quément & Michel Desjoyeaux.
Well-known for their teamwork on the famous Outremer 5X (rewarded Best Boat of the Year 2014 and European
Boat of the Year 2013.)
