The Outremer “Girolata” , won the 2004 ARC Transatlantic Race on elapsed and corrected time

Although Outremers are conceived as performance cruisers their legendary speed makes them ideally suited for offshore races. The 2000 OSTAR “Europe 1- New Man Star” Transatlantic Race was won by 63 year old French sailor Didier Levillain on the very first Outremer 45” Bagnoles De L’Orne”. This grueling race was mostly upwind into 8 gales, against purpose built racing machines.

The French specialist firm Outremer Yachting creates catamarans which will be rewarding to sail in all conditions. The new Outremer 49 is a vast advancement over the older line such as the Outremer 42, 45, 50 and 55. The Outremer 49 is unique in the world of cruising multihulls as she is the only production catamaran in the world that has optional twin tiller helming stations in addition to her standard wheel steering.

Outremer catamarans possess legendary light wind speed and can be pushed like few other yachts in gale conditions.

The most beautiful thing one can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science. He to whom this reaction is a stranger - who no longer can pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe - is as good as dead, his eyes are closed.
