40,000 mile journey in an amphibious catamaran-car

Can we just have a moment for how cool engineering is, as a profession? Take Mait Nilson, for example – an Estonian mechanical engineer who, for some wonderful reason, had a life-long dream to travel around the world in an amphibious car that could sail the seas and drive over land. So he built one in shape of a catamaran. Meet the Amphibear: This bad boy is a Toyota Land Cruiser that has been almost entirely rebuilt, mainly with the addition of two giant drives that fold down into the water and make this giant car float. Regardless if he is successful or not we salute the courage and ingenuity. But we know what you’re thinking. Surely it can’t actually work, right?
