Alpha 02 testing continues
The second Alpha 42 is undergoing continued testing and seatrials off NY-Long Island’s South Shore while a short sail to Manhattan Harbor is planned for this weekend. At half a ton lighter and an additional 150 sqft of sail area this Alpha (named LUCY) feels more agile than her predecessor. The bow up trim also helps sailing in strong conditions as it keeps the hulls out of the water. An additional benefit we noticed by re -trimming the boat is quicker tacks as there is no digging bow knuckle. The owner Jamie was aboard yesterday and was very pleased sporting a grin most of the time as he would not give up driving. We even tried tacking the boat with mainsail only. It worked perfectly thanks to the aft centered and 6 degree canted rig. All in all a successful day for our team with more tuning to go.
