Fountaine Pajot Salina 48 in Antarctica
From Salina 48 LIBELLULES log Jan 21 2015: “…We visited a Ukrainian Research Station yesterday which is populated by 12 persons, 7 of which are scientists and 5 support staff (cook, doctor, engineer, mechanic, electrician, etc.). They actually have a sauna which they kindly let us use, so we jumped at the opportunity to warm up after enduring freezing temperatures for weeks, both on board as well as in our high camps….”
LIBELLULE is a Fountaine Pajot Salina 48 catamaran sailed by a Swiss owner and friends around the world, then through the Northwest Passage and now this incredible team is exploring Antarctica. LIBELLULE was the first cruising catamaran to cross the Northwest Passage and is the first catamaran to have sailed the opposite arctic circles. This shows Fountaine Pajot catamarans’ toughness as well as the crew’s unfathomable spirit of adventure and passion for sailing. The new Saba 50 catamaran is the follower of the now famous Salina 48 of which 85 have been built and sailing the world.
We are in awe of their achievements and continue to follow them on a daily basis. Fair winds to LIBELLULE and their crew !
