Golden Oldies
Think of it as a preservation society of vintage multihulls. Today people collect art, antiques, old cars and even vintage airplanes. Why not classic multihulls? Of course it would have to be our French friends again. A group of French enthusiasts have founded Golden Oldies years ago to promote the preservation, use and racing of classic catamarans and trimarans. We have wrote about them in the past newsletters as some of you might remember. In the Golden Oldies club you will find sinuous Newick trimarans battling it out with Warrham and Kellsal cats and even some proas. Newicks artistic creations are alive and our favorite boats such as “Moxie”, “Gordano Goose” and “Three Legs of Man” are healthy, well taken care of and loved by their owners. Unlike the fate of many past marine treasures they have not been forgotten and scrapped. These are the multihulls that inspired us and were the building blocks of the production cats of today. We at Aeroyacht say bravo ! It is about time that we acknowledge, honor and preserve the first and second generation of multihulls which have paved the way to make these craft mainstream. In fact our business would not exist have it not been for these beautiful machines and the men who sail them.
