Match Point in the America’s Cup
The America’s Cup is turning out to be a real nail biter. Team NZ only needs one more race to reach ultimate victory while the Americans have to secure everyone of the next 7 races. Critics of multihulls and traditionalists have incorrectly reasoned that racing in large foiling catamarans will be boring to watch. Well, as Dean Barker, skipper of Team Emirates NZ said in an interview:” If you do not like what you are seeing, you are probably watching the wrong sport” In fact there have been more lead changes and close duels in this cup than in any other previous one. Seeing 72′ catamarans foiling upwind at closing speeds of 90 miles an hour and dipping with only feet to spare is incredible. It’s Formula 1 racing with wind powered machines. A true spectacle that should not be missed.
