New Sub-Hunting Drone Trimaran

In April the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the Office of Naval Research christened their new toy, the SEA HUNTER. This giant unmanned trimaran is designed to operate at sea for many months at a time, travel thousands of miles, all while following navigation rules and avoiding collisions with no one aboard. The 130′ trimaran is designed with a ton of advanced features that the Navy envisions it can use for hunting subs and mines, but could just as easy be just surveillance.
We just hope that there aren’t any software glitches. I would hate to run into these stray tris at night.
