Patchogue, NY Mayor visits ALPHA Yachts
This morning Alpha Yachts was honored by the visit of Patchogue NY Mayor Mr. Paul V Pontieri Jr. Marc Anassis and Gregor Tarjan had a very productive meeting with the Mayor and talked about a possible expansion with the addition of a 6,3000 sqft purpose built commercial building with a 10 Ton moving gantry. This additional building would make construction of the existing boat easier and would also meet the growing demands of new orders. Presently Alpha Yachts is building 3 boats simultaneously (hulls Nr. 2, 3 and 4). The Major took a tour through the 5 existing Alpha Yacht buildings and greeted some of the 22 strong workforce including Tom Schaefer, the yards foreman.
With a growing population of more than 14,000 people, Patchogue, which is approximately 60 miles (100 km) east of Manhattan, became incorporated in 1893. A natural riverfront and harbor are resources that the village has utilized for the past 100 years, to become a modern and largely self-contained waterfront community. Alpha Yachts has chosen Patchogue to be the ideal spot for its yacht building enterprise as it draws from the rich tradition of craftsman and the yards waterfront access viat the South Shore Boat Yard.
