Reduced Mast Height Option – Bavaria-Nautitech 40 Open
For sailors who wish to take the scenic route along the East Coast through the ICW (Intracoastal Waterway), Bavaria-Nautitech now offers a new lower mast-height option. Previously the Bavaria Nautitech 40 Open catamaran could only be ordered with a fixed standard height mast which prohibited the passage through some of the key bridges along he ICW. Passing on the “inside” of Cape Hatteras and some other strategic nautical landmarks provides a feeling of safety for many cruisers.
To answer this important demand Bavaria Nautitech is offering a slightly reduced mast height (a 3,950 Euro option) which will result in an airdraft of only 60’8″, low enough to sneak under most East Coast bridges. Performance oriented sailors will hardly notice the reduction in sail area as the deck and hulls of the 40 Open are streamlined and provide excellent speed.
